Volunteer: Administrative Assistant II at McGruder Family Resource Center

Administrative Assistant II

Volunteer receptionists are responsible for performing clerical tasks, to support the daily functioning of McGruder. We expect our volunteer receptionists to cover a half to full day of work (4-8 hours, with a lunch break for a full day) preferably once per week or more.

Duties include:

Greeting and directing clients who enter the building to the appropriate office/individual

Answering the phone and returning calls to clients

Tracking client services

Data Entry

Ensuring applicants are filling out applications completely and accurately. 

Dispensing and collecting follow up surveys to clients

Responding to client inquiries in a polite and timely manner

At this one location, Nashville residents can find help, using the many services that Catholic Charities offers, such as Job Training, Housing Security, and Hunger Relief.

At Catholic Charities, we believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food. But sadly, too many of our neighbors in North Nashville face hunger every day. That's where you come in.

Sort and organize donations: Help us turn generous contributions into readily available meals. Pack food boxes: Assemble nutritious packages for individuals and families in need. Assist clients with shopping: Offer a friendly face and guidance as clients select their groceries. Stock shelves: Keep our pantry organized and ensure a smooth shopping experience. Volunteer: South Nashville: Family Resource Center Volunteer

The South Nashville Family Resource Center is in need of volunteers to assist in our food deliveries, food pantry and hygiene and diaper closet for families facing food insecurity. Our shifts include but are not limited to  receiving food and diaper deliveries, unboxing products, stocking shelves, etc. and events. The volunteer(s) must have a flexible schedule as deliveries are made on different days and times of the week.

Unidos in Banking is a program designed to prepare candidates for the financial industry.  We are not just teaching about banking, we are also preparing students with job readiness skills, including creating resumes and interviewing strategies.

Our goal:  To equip candidates with the interviewing skills and confidence necessary for a successful interview.  

Our objective: With your participation, our students can practice and get feedback to improve their interview skills. These skills include answering the questions, specifically, clearly, concisely and with the correct tone of voice and energy.

Tools to use for the interview:

Mock Interview Guide Interview Evaluation Form

 Volunteer - Required to do:

Conduct mock phone interviews with 3-4 students. Mock interviews should be a minimum of 15 minutes. Mock interview should cover at least 5 questions. Take notes on the Interview Evaluation Form and provide feedback to the students.

1 hour every week  4 weeks  Mondays 5 –7 p.m.
